5 Minds Martial Arts operates at 8503 Whitesburg Dr in Huntsville, Alabama. Drawing inspiration from the five mindsets of Budo—Shoshin, Zanshin, Mushin, Fudoshin, and Senshin—the academy provides structured martial arts training for children, youth students, and adults. Program options include Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Karate, Adult No-Gi Takedown, and Adult No-Gi. The gym was established by co-founder and head coach Dave Frizzell alongside co-founder and coach Deven Dehnel. The coaching staff emphasizes practical application, guiding students through training with resisting training partners to develop technical ability, balance, and physical conditioning across all experience levels. Classes range from kids Jiu-Jitsu for ages 4 to 6 and youth Jiu-Jitsu for ages 7 to 12 to adult martial arts programs for students 13 and older. Students train in both gi and no-gi formats while focusing on discipline, self-defense skills, and functional movement.
