805 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a grappling academy located at 1407 E. Los Angeles Avenue, Unit J, in Simi Valley, California. The school offers technical Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction for children, teenagers, and adults within a patient and ego-free training environment. Operating under the Carlos Machado lineage, the academy is owned and directed by head instructor Joshua "Cowboy" Ruiz, a Machado black belt who began training at the facility in 2016. The teaching staff includes second-degree black belt Ric Prete and youth coach Chase Lovejoy. Programs encompass kids BJJ for ages 4 to 6, youth classes for ages 7 to 12, adult gi and no-gi grappling for ages 13 and older, and focused women's self-defense. Training sessions are conducted Monday through Saturday, featuring morning, evening, and Sunday open mat periods. Prospective students can contact the academy online to register for an introductory trial class.
