Akros Academy of Jiu Jitsu

Akros Academy of Jiu Jitsu provides martial arts education and practical self-defense training at 360 Industrial Drive South in Madison, Mississippi. The academy conducts instructional programs in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for children, teenagers, and adult practitioners across the greater Madison area. Head instructor Houston Cottrell is a Gracie Jiu-Jitsu black belt under the Gracie family with over a decade of teaching experience and more than twenty years in martial arts. Cottrell graduated from Liberty University in 2018 with a degree in Intelligence and National Security and was recognized twice as a Top 10 Under Forty honoree in two separate cities. Course programming includes Adult Fundamentals covering escapes, sweeps, submissions, and positional control, alongside Adult Advanced classes focusing on tactical gameplay and positional transitions. The academy also offers Kids Fundamentals, Kid's Advanced, Mini Jiu-Jitsu, Women's Only sessions, private instruction, and law enforcement training, providing a one-week unlimited trial for new students.
