Arte Suave Jiu Jitsu Academy

Arte Suave Jiu Jitsu Academy is located at 321 South Fayette Street in Beckley, West Virginia. The academy is owned and led by head coach Chris McKinney, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and United States Army Veteran with a professional mixed martial arts background. McKinney earned his black belt under instructors Steve Hall and Bryan Atterson. The school's lineage connects through Atterson to Chris Blanke, Saulo and Xande Ribeiro, and Royler Gracie, maintaining direct affiliation with Chris Blanke and Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu. The gym operates a training facility featuring mat space, dressing rooms, and restrooms on site. Classes run six days a week, offering adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu across gi and no-gi disciplines alongside training in wrestling, boxing, and mixed martial arts. A structured kids BJJ program is available for youth ages five to thirteen with three classes per week, and competitor Sarah Faust captured the 2025 IBJJF Masters Brown Belt World Championship representing the academy.
