Berks County Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is located at 4700 N 5th Street Highway in Temple, Pennsylvania. Owner and Head Instructor Jose Ortiz began grappling in scholastic wrestling before starting Jiu-Jitsu. He has trained under Erik Faust and the late Shane Mock since 2010, along with two years under IBJJF world champion Abraham Martes. Ortiz began coaching as a brown belt in 2019 and earned his black belt in 2022. Morning sessions are led by Tomas Canseco, a black belt promoted in 2024 who is also a licensed chiropractor, while second-degree black belt Erik Faust brings grappling experience dating back to 2008. The academy provides adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in both gi and no-gi formats, complemented by open rolling sessions and a structured youth program taught by brown belts Dylan Delay and Shaye Witman. Striking classes cover boxing and kickboxing under head striking coach Erik Spring, a three-time USKA national kickboxing champion with a 13-4 professional boxing record. The facility also features a full gym with weight sets, machines, and equipment for strength and conditioning training.
