Checkmat Gallatin operates at 136 Prince Street in Gallatin, Tennessee. The school is owned and directed by head instructor Professor Sebastian Rodriguez, who holds a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Professor Ricardo Pantcho Feliciano and has been an active competitor with Checkmat BJJ since 2009. The coaching staff features wrestling and jiu-jitsu coach Charles Cook, an investigator and former University of Oregon wrestler who captured the 2022 World Master 5 Super Heavyweight gold medal and 2023 World Master 6 silver medal, alongside brown belt coach Caleb Riker, coach Kyle Eldred, and coach Brian Ferguson. The academy delivers martial arts programming in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, submission grappling, and wrestling for practitioners of all experience levels. Adult coursework includes morning and evening Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sessions, fundamental classes, no-gi submission grappling, and open mat rolls. Youth programs are structured into age-appropriate divisions, featuring Kids BJJ for ages four to eight, Kids BJJ for ages nine to twelve, and Kids No-Gi Grappling for ages four to twelve. Instruction highlights technique, mutual respect, discipline, and personal conditioning on the mats. Prospective students and local families can request a free seven-day pass to try classes at the facility.
