Church MMA

Church MMA operates as a Community Helps Program of Central Baptist Church in Aurora, Colorado. Training is free for participants throughout the community. Instruction is led by Shane and Jeanine Sowers, who serve as the head coaches and hold credentials as IBJJF recognized purple belts and advanced fusion strikers. The coaches train at High Altitude Martial Arts (HAMA) in Denver under Professor Cody Donovan, noting that promotions in the program follow IBJJF rules. During open season, scheduled training runs on Wednesdays and Fridays in two hour sessions from 3 P.M. to 9 P.M. The first hour is training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), and the second hour is training in striking, incorporating Muay Thai, Western Boxing, Kickboxing, and Dutch K1. Classes accommodate students from four-years old and up, with an invitation for families to train together.
