Coachella Valley Judo and BJJ

Situated at 75150 Sheryl Avenue in Palm Desert, California, Coachella Valley Judo and BJJ provides martial arts instruction and physical conditioning. The academy serves families and practitioners across the Coachella Valley with structured grappling and wrestling programs. The academy was founded by Glen Heggstad in 1987, establishing a long tradition of martial arts education in the desert region. Current instruction features 3rd degree black belts Anthony Mantanona and Daniel McCown, who teach throwing mechanics, ground control, guard transitions, and submission locks derived from traditional judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Classes accommodate all ages and experience levels, including youth programs for children ages 4 and up, scholastic wrestling, and adult gi and no-gi sessions. Prospective students can experience the training environment by scheduling a complimentary first class through the academy.
