Cohab City Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial arts school located at 6900 Park Ave., Suite 2SD, in Guttenberg, NJ. Rooted in Brazilian martial arts traditions, the academy delivers grappling education and physical fitness instruction for youth, teen, and adult practitioners. The school was established by Master Paulo Alves, a fourth-degree black belt born in Minas Gerais, Brazil, who began training jiu-jitsu at age eight. Alves and instructors Sofia Alves and Lowell Bacchus guide students through positional control, joint submissions, reversals, and tactical ground defense in both Gi and No-Gi formats. Weekly schedules feature specialized BJJ Kids Gi classes for ages 4 to 7 and ages 8 to 13, adult morning and evening grappling sessions, Friday yoga classes, and open mat training on Saturdays. Instruction is delivered in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and prospective members can register for a complimentary two-day trial.
