Combatives Academy

Combatives Academy is located at 10426 Burbank Boulevard in North Hollywood, California. The martial arts school delivers reality-based self-defense education, functional striking instruction, and weapons defense for adult practitioners. Instruction is directed by Guru Dan Huybrechts, who was awarded the art of Bukti Negara in 1996 by Pendekar Paul de Thouars. Training incorporates Bruce Lee's philosophy of Jeet Kune Do, Indonesian Kuno Silat, and Filipino Bahala Na Escrima created by Grand Master Leo Giron, focusing on rapid neutralization, infighting, and structural redirection. Class schedules feature beginner and phase-one Jeet Kune Do, alongside all-levels and beginner classes in Bahala Na Escrima stick fighting and Kuno Silat. The academy also conducts specialized Women Are Empowered self-defense seminars focusing on close-quarters escapes, situational awareness, and practical defense.
