Gary Grate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy provides martial arts instruction from its main training facility located at 1335 Airmotive Way in Reno, Nevada. Led by owner and head instructor Gary Grate, a fifth-degree black belt under Charles Gracie, the school emphasizes technical grappling and physical conditioning. Grate graduated from Wooster High School in Reno in 1987 as a Northern Nevada State Wrestling Champion, competed in two Olympic Trials events in wrestling, and served as lead corner to Ken Shamrock alongside coaching for the IFL Lions team. The Reno academy instruction staff includes black belts Brad Munninger and Robert Travers. The school is recognized as an approved facility for the Washoe County School District PE Options Program. Curriculum options span adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling techniques, anti-bullying youth programs, and self-defense courses for women.
