Heights Judo Academy

Heights Judo Academy is a traditional martial arts school based at the Cultural Arts Center, 4450 Broadway in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York, New York. The academy is led by chief instructor Kyoshi Julio Rodriguez. The academy provides authentic instruction in Kodokan Judo and USA Goju-Ryu Karate-do. Kodokan Judo training focuses on off-balancing, hip throws, foot sweeps, hold-down pins, and controlled falling skills. Goju-Ryu Karate instruction balances hard striking techniques with soft circular deflections, kata practice, and practical women's self-defense methods. Instruction emphasizes personal discipline, traditional dojo etiquette, and technical precision for both group classes and private lessons. Kodokan Judo classes meet on Wednesday evenings from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, while Goju-Ryu Karate sessions are held on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM.
