IMAI - Idaho Martial Arts Institute delivers traditional grappling and competitive martial arts instruction at 1223 East Watertower Street in Meridian, Idaho. Founded by Tim Wilson, Steve Viera, Rome Acapon, and Tracy Basterrechea, the dojo combines principles of Kodokan Judo, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and wrestling. Head judo coach Tim Wilson is a fourth-degree black belt in Kodokan Judo and USA Judo Intercontinental Coach who previously competed for the San Jose State University and Olympic Training Center judo teams. Head jiu-jitsu coach Tracy Basterrechea holds a black belt in Kodokan Judo and a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu awarded by Craig Kukuk, alongside certifications as a USA Judo National Coach and police defensive tactics instructor. Instructional offerings include beginner and intermediate judo classes for ages 5 and older, as well as intermediate and advanced sessions on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Coursework covers break-falling mechanics, throwing techniques, ground grappling, and Japanese judo terminology. Membership is available through monthly tuition or annual enrollment plans.
