Indy Iaido provides traditional Japanese martial arts instruction at Enryu Dojo, 2060 East 54th Street, Suite 7, in Indianapolis, Indiana. The training space serves as a community center for classic budo disciplines, fostering personal discipline, physical balance, and mindful movement. Instruction at the dojo is led by David Johnson Sensei, a fifth-degree black belt who began martial arts training in 1980 in Hawaii under Sadao Yoshioka Shihan and Ralph Glanstein Sensei. Students train in classical weapons techniques, posture, drawing and sheathing the sword, and precise cutting mechanics in accordance with traditional etiquette and formal movement principles. The training schedule features weekly iaido instruction on Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. In addition to iaido, the shared dojo space hosts instruction across complementary martial disciplines including aikido, judo, jodo, Systema, and Zen meditation. Prospective students and guests are welcome to visit the training hall to observe classes in session.
