IRONGRIP Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

IRONGRIP Brazilian Jiu Jitsu provides martial arts education and defensive tactics instruction at 731 W Hargett St in downtown Raleigh, North Carolina. Established in 2020 by third-degree black belt Glayton Melo, the training center conducts classes in gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, providing complimentary consultations for prospective practitioners. Academy founder and head instructor Glayton Melo began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training in 2000 under the Nova União banner in Pernambuco, Brazil. Before moving to the United States, Melo served as a SWAT officer within the CHOQUE unit of the Pernambuco State Police. Bringing over twenty-four years of mat experience, Melo teaches with an emphasis on fluid transitions, position control, sweeps, and rapid submissions while personally coaching students from their first day. Curriculum tracks encompass adult gi and no-gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the IG 1 structured beginner course, and youth jiu-jitsu classes designed to build confidence, coordination, and personal discipline.
