Japan Ways Traditional Karate

Japan Ways Traditional Karate operates at 5721 N. First Street in Fresno, California. Established in 2008 by a group of senior martial artists, the dojo delivers classical Shotokan Karate-Do instruction and physical conditioning for youth and adult students. The school features chief instructor Sensei Steven Wong, a 7th-degree black belt who began training in 1973 under the late Shihan Robert Halliburton. Instruction is supported by senior instructor Sensei Cleo Martin, a 6th-degree black belt, carrying forward traditional Japanese karate lineages. Training programs focus on traditional Shotokan fundamentals, including basic stances, blocking techniques, striking forms, and controlled partner drills. The dojo structures classes to enable entire families to practice together on the mat, fostering discipline, technical progression, and respectful martial values.
