Jitsu Academy SC delivers Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts instruction at 1674 Lake Murray Boulevard in Columbia, South Carolina. Established in 2022 by founders Danilo and Jessica Cherman, the school provides structured martial arts training for children, teenagers, and adult practitioners. The academy is directed by head instructor Danilo Cherman, a fifth-degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Master André Pederneiras of Nova União. Professor Cherman is an accomplished international competitor whose accolades include Brazilian National and Rio de Janeiro State championship titles, alongside two IBJJF Pan American bronze medals. His background also features a ten-and-four professional mixed martial arts record with six submission victories across promotions such as Shooto and Cage Rage. The schedule incorporates morning, afternoon, and evening training times throughout the week. Adult programs span fundamental grappling mechanics through advanced technical rolling. Youth classes are grouped by age starting at age 3, with Little Kids, competition, and no-gi tracks, and newcomers can attend a complimentary one-day trial session.
