Jiu-Jitsu USA operates a martial arts training academy located at 242 Sturbridge Road in Charlton, Massachusetts. The organization began in 1999 and established its Charlton academy facility in 2010. Owner and head instructor Hondo Roberts has practiced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 1997, originally beginning his training at the Ralph Gracie Academy in San Francisco alongside background study in Aikido and Muay Thai. After completing 28 years of service in emergency medicine, Roberts retired from clinical medical practice in January 2020 to focus entirely on academy instruction. Coaching at the academy is shared with head coach Lee Salzman, a brown belt who joined Jiu-Jitsu USA when the Charlton school opened and has trained with the organization for fourteen years. Instructional programs center on adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and structured youth classes for children. Training sessions focus on technique drills, positional control, and grappling fundamentals, with free class passes provided for prospective students exploring membership.
