Marin Judo Academy

Marin Judo Academy is a traditional Japanese martial arts and grappling school located at 5800 Northgate Drive, Suite 51, in San Rafael, California. The dojo provides structured Judo education, physical literacy, and conditioning for children and adults in Marin County. The academy was established by founder and judo instructor Rodrigo Silveira, who began training at age five in Brasília, Brazil. Head judo instructor Newton Casemiro, a 2024 Veteran 3 National Judo Champion and fourth-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, brings decades of teaching experience, supported by fifth-degree karate black belt Dave Newell and boxing instructor Dmytro Pakhan. Classes emphasize balance, coordination, body control, safe falling, and progressive throws based on the principles of Jigoro Kano. Programs include Little Judokas for children ages 4 to 6, structured Kids Judo classes, Adults Judo training, traditional Shorin Ryu Karate, and boxing conditioning sessions.
