Matadero Brea operates at 1219 W Imperial Highway in Brea, California. The academy was co-founded by head instructor Kristofer Udan and youth instructor Omar Gastelum. Gastelum, an attorney who began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the mid-1990s under Rodrigo Medeiros, guides the youth program and fundamentals classes. Training programs encompass adult gi jiu-jitsu, no-gi submission grappling, stand-up kickboxing drills, and kids martial arts. Classes incorporate strength and conditioning warm-ups, step-by-step technique instruction, and controlled drilling on the mats.
