Nelumbo Jiu-Jitsu Academy operates at 119 Geneva Dr. Suite B in Oviedo, Florida. Founded in 2008, the family-owned martial arts academy provides Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense instruction for children, teenagers, and adults from Oviedo and neighboring communities. Instruction is directed by Sensei Eddie Torres, who brings more than 25 years of experience teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and practical self-defense. The academy is associated with the BJJ Coach International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association founded by Marcello C. Monteiro in the Ricardo De La Riva lineage. Training focuses on positional dominance, technical escapes, joint locks, and step-by-step skill progression in a controlled training environment. The academy provides structured programs across age-specific tracks. Youth offerings include Little Jitsu (Ages 4-6) and Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Ages 7-12), as well as homeschool and after-school programs. Adult students train across White Belt Fundamentals, Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Level 1, Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Level 2-4, and no-gi grappling.
