Orange County Judo Training Center

Orange County Judo Training Center is a classical judo dojo situated at 10706 Garden Grove Boulevard in Garden Grove, California. Operating under the motto modern training, traditional values, the dojo instructs students in Olympic-style judo throws, hold-downs, and mat submissions. Head instructor Juan Montenegro is a sixth-degree black belt who began training in Lima, Peru, under former Peru national coach Takenori Ito from Tenri University. A four-time national champion in Peru, Montenegro moved to the United States in 1986 and has instructed youth and adult students in Orange County for more than two decades. The weekly schedule provides age-specific training, including youth classes for ages 4 to 7, older youth sessions for ages 8 to 13, and all-levels teen and adult classes. Training focuses on ukemi breakfalls, standing throwing techniques, and ground grappling, open to practitioners from other arts such as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
