Rio Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense operates at 7450 S. Gartrell Rd., Suite A1 in Aurora, Colorado. The martial arts academy provides Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu coaching, self-defense instruction, and functional physical conditioning for children, teenagers, and adult practitioners across the Aurora community. Instruction is directed by head coach Fernando Pelet, a second-degree black belt who holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, alongside instructor Bret Talbot, a first-degree black belt. The coaching team guides practitioners through ground control principles, positional escapes, guard passes, and joint submissions, combining exercise science principles with disciplined martial technique. Academy coursework features programs designed for different ages and training backgrounds. Offerings encompass youth jiu-jitsu and self-defense classes alongside adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sessions conducted in both gi and no-gi formats. Practice sessions combine structured technical breakdowns, partner drill repetitions, and controlled live rolling rounds.
