Rokah Karate & Jiu Jitsu

Rokah Karate & Jiu Jitsu operates at 9218 W Pico Blvd in Los Angeles, California. The dojo was founded and is directed by Sensei Avi Rokah, a 9th Dan Shotokan master who was named the "1994 World Champion Traditional Karate" and a 5x US National Champion in Kumite after twenty-seven years studying under Grand Master Hidetaka Nishiyama. The martial arts curriculum centers on traditional Nishiyama Shotokan karate principles combined with functional grappling instruction. Sensei Avi personally teaches adult karate sessions focusing on bodily mechanics, breath control, timing, and direct practical self-defense. Grappling programs feature Adult Jiu-Jitsu scheduled alongside karate sessions to promote cross-disciplinary mat versatility. Youth classes encompass age-specific Shotokan training for ages six through seventeen as well as dedicated "Youth Jiu-Jitsu (ages 8–15)" sessions. Young practitioners learn foundational falls, positional control, defensive awareness, and respectful conduct on the dojo floor. Classes and cross-training schedules run throughout the week at the Pico Blvd facility.
