Roma Jiu Jitsu Academy delivers structured Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction and community athletic training at 1332 Kilauea Avenue in Hilo, Hawaii. Founded in April 2016 by Kawika Yoneda and Jamie Yoneda, the academy serves martial artists, youth students, and competitive grapplers throughout the Big Island. The academy is directed by head instructor Professor Kawika Yoneda, who received his black belt in July of 2017 from Guilherme and Rafael Mendes at the Art of Jiu Jitsu Academy in California. Jamie Yoneda serves as academy director, while the coaching staff features Professor Todd, a University of Hawaii at Hilo kinesiology graduate, children's coach Coach Cami, and Professor Lance, who captured a 2022 Masters World Championship title at brown belt before receiving his black belt from Yoneda. Instructional programs encompass fundamental and advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for adult practitioners alongside Kids and Kids Advanced divisions, emphasizing technical precision, physical health, and goal setting.
