School of Budo provides traditional martial arts training and ground fighting instruction at 7506 N Chicago Ave in Portland, Oregon. Situated in the St. Johns neighborhood, the dojo conducts classes in adult martial disciplines for recreational students and seasoned practitioners. Jiu-Jitsu coursework is headed by Tim Cartmell, an Asian full-contact champion, submission grappling champion, two-time Pan American Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu champion at brown and black belt, and seven-time Copa Pacifica winner. Advanced instructor Michael Selin brings over thirty years of martial arts experience, holding a jiu-jitsu black belt awarded by Cartmell in 2017 alongside black belts in Judo and Aikido. Close-quarters instruction is led by Chris Leblanc, bringing extensive law enforcement background to the mats. Curriculum options encompass Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Extreme Close Encounter Concepts, Aikido, Jodo, and Iaido. Jiu-jitsu classes cover grip fighting, throws, sports grappling, ground fighting, and no-gi training.
