Shreveport Jiu-Jitsu: Archimedes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy

Archimedes Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy delivers authentic grappling education and combative arts training at 1618 Marshall St in Shreveport, Louisiana. The academy operates as a proud affiliate of First BJJ out of Salt Lake City, Utah, representing the Carlson Gracie lineage through Carlos Santos, holder of three adult IBJJF world championship titles. Instruction is directed by Professor Christopher Velez, who brings extensive wrestling and martial arts background to the academy. Professor Velez began training in 2009 at the US Air Force Academy Preparatory School wrestling room before competing on the NCAA Division I wrestling team at the US Air Force Academy, training judo for two years, and studying for eleven years under Professor Carlos Santos. Velez has competed in tournaments nationwide, earning medals in Denver, Los Angeles, San Diego, Chicago, and Salt Lake City. Class offerings feature Gi, No-Gi, Self Defense, and Combatives tailored for military personnel, law enforcement officers, and concealed carry practitioners, alongside personalized private sessions. Training incorporates situational sparring, chained techniques, and hygiene protocols, providing students with structured fitness, self-confidence, and practical combative skills.
