Soma Jiu-Jitsu Academy of Idaho Falls

SOMA Jiu-Jitsu Academy operates at 1572 N Hitt Road, Idaho Falls, ID 83401. The academy first opened its doors in Idaho Falls on November 1, 1994, as The Academy of Martial Arts, establishing a legacy spanning over three decades in Eastern Idaho. The school was founded by Dr. Jared Emfield, who serves as Head Instructor. Holding a PhD in Educational Leadership, Professor Jared Emfield is a 3rd Degree Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt trained under Rickson Gracie, Pedro Sauer, and Matt Strack. His teaching combines martial arts instruction with academic background in instructional design. Training programs include Little Porcupines for children around ages 4-6. Elementary-aged students train in Youth Level 1 for ages 6 to 9, while older youth progress to Youth Level 2. The academy also provides an Adults Gracie Jiu-Jitsu program designed for complete beginners to advanced practitioners.
