Spectre Jiu Jitsu

Spectre Jiu Jitsu operates at 201 N. Maple Grove Rd., Boise, ID 83704. The academy is a Gustavo Rodrigues affiliate founded in Boise, Idaho in 2019 by Derek Newton, Jake Durbin, and Thomas Erickson. Professor Gustavo Rodrigues is a 4th degree black belt in jiu jitsu based in Salt Lake City, who began his study at Integração Jiu Jitsu in Santos, Brazil in 1995 with Master Elcio Figueiredo. Instruction at the Boise school includes four primary black belt instructors: Derek Newton, John Laird, Jake Durbin, and Johnny Kowalski. Derek Newton is a 2nd degree black belt and head instructor. Classes are organized by selecting a principle or position as focus for instruction for about a month at a time, with mats cleaned and sanitized after every session.
