Standalone MMA operates at 848 W 9th St in Chico, California. The gym delivers multi-disciplinary combat sports training across multiple martial arts styles, operating training sessions on weekdays and Saturdays. The facility is owned by Jason Pietz, who earned a spot on the Lion's Den team in October of 1996 and trained under Ken and Frank Shamrock. Pietz later trained from 2000 to 2006 with the American Kickboxing Academy under Bob Cook alongside prominent mixed martial arts fighters. Classes span Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing, MMA, and Strength & Conditioning. The youth program serves students ages 8 to 15, teaching ground defense, submission holds, boxing, and kickboxing fundamentals alongside coordination drills, while adult sessions accommodate practitioners ages 16 and older.
