Team Rhino Gracie Jiu-Jitsu

Team Rhino Gracie Jiu-Jitsu operates at 750 S Progress #125 in Meridian, Idaho. Established in 1993, the academy delivers traditional Gracie Jiu-Jitsu education, practical self-defense tactics, and youth development programs for students throughout Meridian and surrounding communities. The academy was established by Keith and Shirlane Owen, with Professor Keith Owen earning his fourth-degree black belt under Master Pedro Sauer and creating ground control curricula for law enforcement. Today, Shirlane and the academy's instructional team uphold this grappling tradition. Training sessions emphasize leverage over force, positional transitions, defensive posture, and student safety on the mats. The school organizes its schedule into structured developmental tiers for youth and adults. Children's programs include Baby Rhinos for ages 3 to 3.5, Mighty Rhinos for ages 3.5 to 4, Lil Rhinos for ages 4 to 6, Youth Crash for ages 7 to 11, and Tween Crash for ages 12 to 14. Adult classes serve students ages 15 and older alongside law enforcement defensive tactics, with a three-class free trial available.
