The Base Jiu Jitsu Boise

The Base Jiu Jitsu Boise operates at 2640 E State Ave Suite 110 in Meridian, Idaho. The academy welcomes students from surrounding communities including Meridian, Boise, Nampa, and Caldwell, offering training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu with integrated judo and wrestling techniques. Head instructor Professor BJ Buttars earned his black belt under Mitch Coats in 2016 and trained extensively with Andrew Smith of Revolution BJJ. A tournament competitor, Buttars took first place at the IBJJF Denver Open and earned the title of NW Submission Challenge Welterweight No-Gi Champion. Coaching at the academy is also supported by Jessica Knight. Training programs are divided into Kids BJJ for ages 5 to 13 and Adults BJJ for ages 14 and older, covering both gi and no-gi grappling. Classes emphasize positional discipline, takedowns, submission defense, and practical martial arts principles in a structured setting.
