The Jiu-Jitsu Academy of Southern Maryland

The Jiu-Jitsu Academy operates in Southern Maryland, serving students across Charles County and the Metropolitan DC area. Affiliated with the IBJJF and the United States Judo Association, the academy maintains an inclement weather policy following Charles County School closures. Instructional staff includes senior instructor John Coller, who holds a Black Belt 4th Degree in Jiu-Jitsu with the USJA and a Black Belt BJJ with the IBJJF. Coaching is supported by senior judo instructor Bill McElhaney, a judo 2nd degree black belt with over 25 years of judo training and competition experience, alongside instructors Jeff Mathews, Beau Perrizo, and Mike Ledman. Weekly scheduling provides Juniors Jiu-Jitsu for participants 6-12 years old and adult and teen students Jiu-Jitsu for ages 13 and older, meeting Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. Additional offerings include all-ages judo on Thursday evenings and Saturday fundamentals with Beau, as well as private lessons by appointment.
