Torse House Checkmat Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is located at 618 E Franklin St in El Segundo, California. Founded in 2017 by black belt Thiago Rodrigues, the academy offers martial arts instruction designed to teach students practical ground fighting and self-defense skills. The academy takes its name from torse, the rotational power generated through the body, which instructors emphasize as a foundational element of jiu-jitsu. Professor Rodrigues focuses on teaching in a challenging, fun, and safe environment where students build core strength, bodily flexibility, and perseverance. Classes accommodate all skill levels and age groups, with youth sessions and adult training held throughout the week, including Sunday adult sessions twice per month. A 2-day free trial is available for El Segundo residents and beginners. Prospective students can submit an inquiry online to begin training.
