West Coast Mission Karate

Situated at 1976 Driscoll Rd in Fremont, California, West Coast Mission was founded in 2003 by owner and head instructor KJN Jovi Fernando Sr. and his family. Fernando holds an eighth-degree black belt, having started his martial arts training in 1993 under GGM Tony Thompson as part of the Ernie Reyes West Coast Association. The instructional staff includes family instructors KJN Jovi Jr., KJN Jake, and KJN Jalen, alongside instructor and front desk manager BKJN Lily. Training emphasizes core values centered on honor, loyalty, family, and bravery while instructing practical self-defense techniques and anti-bullying awareness. Class offerings are structured by age and experience, featuring the Camo Dragons program for children ages 3.5 to 4 and the Dragons program for ages 5 to 8. Students age nine and older train in solid belt rank divisions leading toward black belt tests, with supplementary training covering sparring, weapons practice, demo team routines, and adult cardio kickboxing.
