Adam Sachnoff is the founder, owner and head instructor of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu San Mateo. He came to the art weighing more than 300 pounds and lacking direction; after his first class he began training twice a day, six days a week, lost over 80 pounds and has kept the weight off for more than eleven years. Sachnoff is a second-degree black belt under 10th Planet founder Eddie Bravo with more than a decade at that rank. His results include three world championships, first place at the 2012 ADCC North American trials, first place at the submission-only Onnit Invitational, a team title at Quintet 2 in Japan, and second place at the IBJJF No-Gi Worlds Masters in 2023 and 2024. In 2012 the 10th Planet Association gave him its Nibiru Warrior of the Year award. Many of his students have earned brown and black belts.
