Adrian Vasquez is the head Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor at Balance MMA / Balance Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where he holds a third-degree black belt. He received his black belt in December 2013 from Freddy Sabbatini and Team Cia Paulista, the team he trained with for thirteen years, and in September 2018 joined Alliance under Rubens "Cobrinha" Charles to focus on competition and teaching. He has medaled in regional tournaments and IBJJF events. Vasquez wrestled at South Pasadena High School, then earned a brown belt in judo under his former wrestling coach, Mike Verdugo. As a purple belt he competed in amateur MMA and was ranked in the top ten at 155 pounds by CAMMO. A back injury and surgery in 2015 kept him out of competition for two years; he has since recovered and now focuses on growing Balance Jiu-Jitsu, where coaches such as Micah Giron earned black belts under him.
