Ahmad (Alex) Zahabi is the head instructor of Tristar Burlington BJJ, which he founded in 2009, and an IBJJF-certified third-degree black belt. He started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in the late 1990s when his brother, Firas Zahabi, introduced him to the art; at the time he was beginning a science PhD at McGill and was drawn by the effectiveness of the techniques. He began coaching in Montreal in 2002 as a purple belt and, on the way to his black belt in 2013, taught at some of Canada's leading academies, including Tristar Gym in Montreal. Since opening Burlington BJJ he has helped his students find success at local and international tournaments.
