Detailed Description
Andrew Perkins is the founder of Mat Chess MMA in Seattle, which he opened in 2011, and he coaches its Brazilian jiu-jitsu classes. He began martial arts in 2003 and holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu under Dave Ginsburg. He has taught BJJ for more than 13 years and trains alongside his students daily so that he can shape the curriculum to their needs. A former schoolteacher with a master's degree in education and roughly a decade of classroom experience, Perkins built the academy around systems-based instruction modeled on how academic subjects are taught.
