Ben Westrich is the founder and head coach of Warrior Fitness Center in Colorado Springs, where he coaches Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and MMA. A black belt under Chris Haueter, he opened the gym in 2011 while still serving in the U.S. Army, with the goal of building a martial arts school that did not have to choose between technical quality and a strong training culture. Westrich is a combat veteran who served as Senior Instructor and NCOIC of the Fort Carson Army Combatives Program and is a Master Combatives Trainer. His competitive record includes an undefeated professional MMA career, All Army Combatives medals and major IBJJF medals at black belt. He also holds a Ph.D. in Urban Economics and Econometrics, and he has promoted black belts of his own, including coach Larry Ruiz.
