Brandon McDaniel is the head instructor and owner of Warrior Way Martial Arts in West Bloomfield, Michigan. His interest in the art began in 1998 after watching Royce Gracie in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, and in 1999, at age 17, he started training at Warrior Way in Walled Lake under Harvy Berman. He trained directly with Royce and Rolker Gracie, who introduced him to Master Carlos Enrique "Caique" Elias; he received his black belt from Caique in November 2009 and is now a fourth-degree black belt with more than 26 years on the mats. McDaniel competed across North America for over 20 years, collecting sport jiu-jitsu and submission grappling titles before retiring due to injury, and he also studies Muay Thai. He now coaches amateur and professional athletes, including UFC competitors, and holds a secondary education degree from Eastern Michigan University, having taught high school for ten years.
