Professor Carlos Rosado is the head instructor of Jiu Jitsu Modern in North Babylon, New York. A North Babylon native and father of three, he started Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at 17 at Gracie Barra in New Hyde Park, and in 2014 he received his black belt from Professor Joe Scarola, becoming Scarola's first black belt. He opened his first school in 2016. Rosado has competed since white belt and continues to test himself at black belt. His results include gold at the 2024 ADCC Atlantic City Master 1 division, no-gi black belt gold at the 2018 IBJJF Pan American, the 2019 and 2023 IBJJF New York Opens and the 2021 IBJJF Houston Open, and wins at Kasai Pro 3, 4 and 5. Known for teaching with close attention to detail, he approaches Jiu-Jitsu as both an art and a science and invests in his students' understanding of it.
