Carlos Machado is the founder of Machado Method Jiu-Jitsu Carrollton, an academy he runs and teaches at personally, and the founder and president of the Machado Method Jiu-Jitsu Association. An eighth-degree coral belt and the eldest of the five Machado brothers, he grew up in Rio de Janeiro training under his uncle, Grandmaster Carlos Gracie Sr., and was mentored by Rolls Gracie. He has taught in the Dallas-Fort Worth area since 1995. As a competitor Machado was a ten-time Brazilian national champion, two-time Pan American champion, two-time Masters World champion and an ADCC finalist. He has coached UFC fighters including Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson and Travis Lutter, produced black belts such as Rafael Lovato Jr., owns the Dallas Mustangs professional grappling team, and works as an international seminar instructor and law-enforcement trainer.
