Christian Castro de Carvalho

Christian Carvalho, addressed as Sensei at his academy, was born in Manaus in the Brazilian Amazon in February 1977 and leads Christian Carvalho BJJ-MMA. He has trained since 1986 and taught since 1996. He holds a black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Paulo "Coelho" Brandao of Gracie Humaita and a black belt in Luta Livre submission grappling under Carlos Brunocilla of Rio de Janeiro, along with a brown belt in Judo and years spent in Marcus Ruas vale tudo, freestyle wrestling, and Muay Thai. His competition background covers more than 100 gi and no-gi matches, including a Pan Am No Gi title in September 2013, a Pancrase submission wrestling championship in 2003-2004, and a K-1 Bad Boys four-man tournament win in Colorado, plus an MMA record of 22-1 as an amateur and 5-1 as a professional. His teaching is devoted to both children and adults.
