David Ginsberg, known as Coach Dave, is the professor behind Ginsberg Academy in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is a fifth-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ranked by Master Mario Sperry, and is among the highest-ranking Americans in the Northeast as verified by the USBJJF and IBJJF. He has taught BJJ and MMA full time since 1997 and coached gymnastics and fitness as far back as 1988. Ginsberg was the first or among the first New Englanders to receive a BJJ black belt, in 2003, to win back-to-back gold medals at the Pan American Games of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2002 and 2003, and to win multiple matches and medal at black belt in international competition in 2004. He has also coached a student to an IBJJF world title. His teaching draws on a background in gymnastics and dance, with particular emphasis on longevity, posture and joint health.
