Dayvon McCarrell is the owner of Top Dawg BJJ in Del City, Oklahoma. He started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2009 after serving in the Air Force and quickly found that, whatever his background, progress in the sport would take hard work and humility. He stuck with it and went on to win multiple IBJJF titles and to medal at the Master Worlds. After years of training, McCarrell wanted an academy closer to Tinker Air Force Base and Del City, and Top Dawg BJJ opened its doors in 2018. The school has grown steadily since, adding classes as more students joined, with the stated aim of making everyone who walks in feel at home. The site refers to him as Dr. Dayvon "Big Mac" McCarrell.
