Deon Thompson is the owner and head instructor of Ohio Brasa Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Toledo, Ohio, which he started in 2007. He holds a black belt under Rodrigo "Comprido" Medeiros. The school began with only seven members and has since grown to nearly 100, moving into a renovated former bank on W. Laskey Road. Under Thompson the academy runs gi and no-gi classes for kids and adults, from beginners through experienced competitors, and he also teaches self-defense sessions for community groups.
