Derek DiManno is the owner and head instructor of Waza Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which he started in 2010. A fourth-degree black belt with 25 years in the sport, he became the first American black belt under world champion Cassio Werneck in 2006 and was the third BJJ black belt in the Sacramento metropolitan area. As a black belt competitor, DiManno has won three silver medals and a bronze at the World Masters Championships, medaled in all four of his Pan American Championship appearances, and won both of his Fight 2 Win matches. He believes jiu-jitsu can change lives for the better and aims to bring the jiu-jitsu lifestyle to students of all ages and backgrounds.
