Detailed Description

Dustin Thornton is the head coach at City of Champions in San Diego, where he personally teaches the adult and competition Jiu-Jitsu classes and the kids program. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he began Jiu-Jitsu in 2002 and started training under Baret Yoshida in 2006. In 2008 he lived in Taiwan to help coach at the first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu school in that country. He won gold at the purple-belt No-Gi Worlds in 2009 and silver in 2010, and Yoshida promoted him to brown belt in 2012, the year he opened City of Champions in July. He then trained under ADCC veteran Joel Tudor of Surfight/Studio 540, who promoted him to black belt in January 2015. He has also won multiple Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling super fights.
