Frank Rosenthal is the owner and head instructor of Phantom Jiu Jitsu in Herndon, Virginia. A second-degree black belt in Renzo Gracie Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, he spent most of his career at the Renzo Gracie Academy headquarters in New York City, studying under John Danaher and competing for the Danaher Death Squad. He also trained under Doug Pelinkovic while teaching at Renzo Gracie Bayside, where as resident black belt he developed the basic and advanced curricula. In 2021 he moved to Virginia to continue learning from Ryan Hall and to teach at the Fifty/50 Academy. Rosenthal holds a B.S. in Health and Physical Education from East Stroudsburg University, earned in 2013, and brings an academic approach to teaching. His competition record includes four RISE Invitational featherweight titles at black belt, superfight wins at Submission Underground and the Onnit Invitational, and a spot on the 2018 Team USA Grappling World Team.
